kara walker: my complement, my enemy, my oppressor, my love @ the whitney museum - exhibition up till feb. 3, 2008
when i first entered the exhibition (thank you brandhi), i didn't know what to expect. i heard people talk about how intense it was and how loud kara was with her images and words. i heard about kara's work through friends and have never seen her stuff till this exhibition and i was honestly impressed and disappointed at the same time. i appreciated her candid approach to race, sex and power! i was thinking about how times have not changed, what was going on back then clearly is still going on now, just subtle. i was disappointed with the auidence....
